Our specialty, the black pork Agu pork, is an appealing ingredient that is counted as one of the "three great pigs in the world."
Its history dates back to the Ryukyu Dynasty, and the name "Agu" comes from a word in the Okinawa dialect meaning "monster" or "ghost" due to its unique appearance.
This native black pig, the Agu pig, is raised in Okinawa's unique environment without being influenced by foreign species, and its rarity makes it highly valued.
The distinctive feature of the Shimane Kurobuta Agu pig is the richness of its meat and its excellent health benefits.
The fat has 5% more marbling than regular pork, and is finely textured and tender. Its low melting point of 38.1 degrees means it melts in your mouth.
Furthermore, it contains three times as much glutamic acid as regular pork, giving it a deep, concentrated flavor and sweetness.
